Figuring out how to be a tiny, useful nail

Remember me? Maybe not! This is the first blog I’ve written in a YEAR.
It’s the longest I’ve gone without writing in over a decade.
So what happened?
I haven’t had anything to say.
I tried to write a few times, but I really didn’t have anything useful to share.
And I didn’t want to write until I did.
This world is so noisy, isn’t it?
There’s a lot of pressure to have an opinion about everything and get it out there as quickly as possible.
There’s a lot of pressure to have answers, fixes, and wise words for every problem.
Our screens and minds are overflowing with hot takes.
But I find it exhausting to have an opinion about everything.
And I haven’t had any wise words to share because I’m stumbling through this polycrisis with you.
It felt compassionate - to myself and you - to just be quiet for a (long) while.
It felt brave - as a self-employed human - not to remind you regularly that my work exists!
Not writing anything publicly for one year is how I’ve been practicing compassionate badassery.
In that time, I’ve been thinking about this quote from my favorite hermit, Mary Oliver,
“May I be the tiniest nail in the house of the universe, tiny but useful.”
I’ve been asking myself: What does it mean for ME to be a tiny but useful nail in a world where the problems are enormous?
To get closer to the answer, I’ve been allowing myself to do a lot more of what I enjoy in my personal life and then seeing how that influences the way I work.
This exploration has led me to some new ways of working, including one offer I’d like to share with you today…just in case my tiny nail can be of service to you!
When COVID hit in 2020, I was in the middle of teaching a live session of my course, Building Compassionate Badassery Boundaries.
It’s a class that has helped lots of people who work with animals to set new, healthy limits in their lives.
I haven’t run that class since, and I realized it’s time, because we need healthy boundaries more than ever right now.
The class has been updated with new info, and the new version is easier and more affordable to access.
Building Compassionate Badassery Boundaries is now a self-paced course you can start anytime and complete on your own schedule.
But you won’t be on your own! I’ll be there in the private discussions to learn from you, answer questions, and share resources.
If you’ve been wanting to set boundaries with work, technology, or even your own inner critic, then this class is for you.
If you struggle with guilt when you set boundaries, this class can help!
Will it fix all your problems? NO!
Could it be a tiny but useful nail in your universe? YES!
If you’d like to hang out with me and others like you who want to practice Building Compassionate Badassery Boundaries, you can learn more about the class here.
I’m finishing the updates right now, and class doors will officially open to everyone on October 18th. Remember, the class is self-paced, so you can start whenever you’re ready, even though access begins on the 18th!
And since we’re all feeling the squeeze right now, I wanted to offer an early enrollment gift.
